Dinner Dates
(for Ages 16-18)
|
Order a pizza, salad, and drinks and have your dinner delivered to a park gazebo. Set up a portable card table and DVD player. Bring good dinnerware, plates, and glasses (you can use paper and plastic, if you prefer).
Go to a drive-in movie in the back of a pick-up or flatbed truck, and have a candlelight dinner while watching the movie. You can order out at a local restaurant (curbside take-out) or before the movie you can prepare the dinner together.
Eat a spaghetti dinner without forks or with odd utensils (1 chopstick, pizza cutter, meat masher, etc.). For a twist, pass out of list of code names for utensils. After a utensil (code name) is ordered, the next person must order a different utensil.
Go to a local thrift store or used-clothing shop. You and your date each get $15 to buy each other outfits to wear for the evening. Then go out to dinner and paint the town in your "new" clothes.
Prepare pizza dough in advance (enough for one pizza for every two couples). Have all the makings available (sauce, spices, cheese, meats, vegetables, and other toppings). Let each group design its own pizza, with an emphasis on creativity (unique shapes, combinations, etc.). While the pizzas are cooking, play some group games.
Prepare a mini-dinner (rice, mini sausages, peas, mini cookies), served on small plates with tiny spoons. You can drink out of the half-sized pop cans.
Have a spaghetti dinner and sit across from your date. Get a long stick and tape a fork on the end of it. Then you and your date have to feed each other.
Take pizza and drinks to an orchard or park. Have a late night picnic under the stars. Bring a blanket, proper beverages, and plan to talk about your families. Share funny stories, and talk about family traditions and fond memories.
At the door, pass out unusual kitchen utensils (ask guest to pick a utensil that could be used to describe one of their personality traits). At the table, ask each person to describe how their utensil relates to a personal trait, then serve dinner. Each guest should attempt to eat dinner with their unique utensil, along with a table knife provided at each plate. After 5 or 10 minutes, pass out proper utensils to all guests.
Have a progressive dinner. Start at the first girl/guy's house and eat appetizers, then drive to the next house for soup, then salad, then main course, and finally, dessert. Optional: Include clues which must be solved to determine which house to go to next, similar to a road rally (have an emergency phone number available for those who don't find the destination).
